The SA-ELISA II Kit utilizes a synthetic envelope antigen and a recominant core antigen in a novel enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the qualitative determination of antibodies to Equine Infectious Anemia Virus (EIAV) in horse serum.  The antigens are coated onto the plate and used in the conjugate.  Equine antibodies to EIAV bridge the plate antigens with the conjugated antigens creating a highly sensitive and specific assay.

Because there is no cure and no effective vaccine for EIAV, disease control measures are limited to the identification and isolation of infected animals.  The SA-ELISA II antibody test provides a rapid and reliable method for the detection of EIAV antibodies.
